SDSN Youth started as an SDSN Australia, New Zealand & Pacific initiative and was launched as a global initiative of SDSN in June 2015. SDSN Youth’s mission is to empower youth globally to create sustainable solutions. Through education and cooperation it aims to amplify the tremendous energy and capabilities of youth in generating broader buy-in for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

SDSN Youth AusNZPac’s Current Goals
📝 Create impact
We aim to create events and projects need to reflect the needs and concerns of young people. We want to build innovative solutions to sustainable development issues across the Australia, New Zealand and Pacific region.
🤝 Build community
We aim to foster a community of young people who are interested in advancing sustainable development in the region. We also want to connect young people to others across the world by utilising the SDSN Youth Network and organising networking events.
🧠 Capacity building
We aim to be providing young people the opportunity to learn the skills and knowledge that they need to advance sustainable development and innovate solutions to the issues that concern them.
💻 Connect young people to resources

Towards an AusNZPac Youth SDG Index is a youth-led report that is the first in the world to use the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) framework to measure young people’s progress towards sustainable development. The report found that young people were lagging behind the general population on many of the SDGs, showing the value and importance of using the SDGs to measure youth progress.
