Event: Ecocity World Summit

SDSN Australia/Pacific is pleased to support and participate in the upcoming Ecocity World Summit, which will take place on 12-14 July in Melbourne.
About the Summit
ECOCITY 2017: Changing Cities: Resilience and Transformations, is bringing together a diverse mix of researchers, policy makers and citizens with a common focus on identifying and creating pathways to more sustainable, resilient and equitable cities.
The Summit will address the unprecedented ecological, economic, political and cultural challenges – and opportunities – facing the world’s cities, in particular
- Climate and energy transformations
- Food and water security
- Smart cities for people
- Healthy and caring cities
- Culturally vibrant cities
- Governance, infrastructure and finance
The summit will feature over 100 sessions and over 300 presenters from more than 30 countries, including keynote addresses by Former US Vice-President and Nobel Laureate, the Hon Al Gore, and many other distinguished speakers.
SDSN at the Summit
- Aromar Revi, Director, Indian Institute for Human Settlements and Co-Chair of SDSN, will give a keynote address as part of Plenary 1: Sustainable and Resilient Cities – Key Challenges and Opportunities. He will also participate in the panel on”Implementation of sustainable development goals for cities” in Session 1A of the Urban Leadeship Stream.
- Professor John Thwaites, Co-Chair of SDSN and Chair of SDSN Australia/Pacific, will run a panel discussion on “Implementation of sustainable development goals for cities” in Session 1A of the Urban Leadeship Stream.
- Sam Loni, the Global Coordinator of SDSN Youth, will speak on “Cities of the
future: can young people help transform their communities” as part of Session 4J: Smart Cities for People in the Academic Research Stream.
SDSN Australia/Pacific also partnered with the Summit organisers on Youth Scholarships to the Ecocity World Summit.
